The following Statement of Basic Beliefs represents the core orthodox beliefs of the
Church from a biblical and historical perspective. While Covenant Partners are not
required to fully understand or articulate all aspects of the Statement of Basic
Beliefs, the explicit rejection of any part of it disqualifies one from Covenant
Partnership at any Reclamation Church. Revisions to the Statement of Basic Beliefs
in order to more clearly align to Scripture shall be at the sole discretion of the Elders
of each Reclamation Church, with the understanding that such changes will be
communicated to the Covenant Partners of the Church.
IN THE GODHEAD.
We believe in the one true God who lives eternally in three persons — the Father, the Son, and
the Holy Spirit.
IN GOD THE FATHER.
We believe in the love, grace, and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming,
and judging the world for His own glory.
IN THE AUTHORITY OF THE SCRIPTURES.
We believe in the divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament
Scriptures, which are the written Word of God — fully trustworthy for faith and life.
IN THE PURPOSE & DIGNITY OF HUMANITY.
We believe in the dignity of all people, made male and female in God's image to glorify and love
Him, love their neighbors, and care for creation.
IN THE REBELLION & SIN OF HUMANITY.
We believe sin is failing to live God's good way. As the representatives of all humanity, Adam and
Eve chose to reject God's good way in the Garden of Eden to the eternal detriment of mankind. All
people are now born into sin and also choose sin, and so deserve the eternal judgement of a just
God. All humanity, along with creation itself, is caught up in the destructive consequences of
failing to love and obey God. And so, we fumble our way towards death through pain, shame and
sorrow in need of a Savior.
IN THE INCARNATION OF JESUS.
We believe in the incarnation of God's eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. He was born of the
virgin Mary and was truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.
IN THE SACRIFICIAL DEATH OF JESUS.
We believe in the atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross -- dying in our place, paying the price of
sin, defeating evil, and so reconciling us with God.
IN JUSTIFICATION BY GRACE ALONE.
We believe in the mediation of Jesus as the only Savior of the world, and the justification of
sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ.
IN THE PHYSICAL RESURRECTION & REIGN OF JESUS.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of Christ as the first fruits of the resurrection. He ascended to
the Father, is now reigning as the True King of the World, and is making mediation as the one and
only Savior of the World.
IN THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
We believe in the immediacy and practical potency of the work of God the Holy Spirit. The Spirit
leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship,
enlivens our ministry in the church through manifold gifts, and enables our gospel witness in the
IN THE CHURCH OF KING JESUS.
We believe the church is the body of Christ, both local and universal. We believe in the priesthood
of all believers — that we are given life by the Spirit and endowed by Him with gifts to worship God,
mature in our faith, and proclaim the gospel. In this, the church promotes justice and love in the
IN THE RETURN OF KING JESUS & THE RENEWAL OF ALL THINGS.
We believe in the personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfill the purposes of God. He will
raise all people to judgement, bringing eternal life to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to
the lost. He will also establish a new heaven and a new earth, restoring the chaos brought about
by sin to the happy order of God's glory in His renewed creation.
